However, while we are “ justified by faith” (Romans 5:1), James indicated that this justification is “ not by faith alone” (James 2:24). We are “ justified by faith” (Romans 5:1), which means that faith is the basis by which God declares us to be righteous. The Hebrew writer explained that “ without faith it is impossible to please ” (Hebrews 11:6). The source of our faith is the word of God (Romans 10:17). It is the “ assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen” (Hebrews 11:1). What Do These Terms Mean?Īnytime we study the Bible (just as with anything else), it is important that we understand the principle terms.įaith is an obedient trust and confidence in the Lord. So let us consider this passage and see how we should understand it. Yet do we understand what it means? Through the 'Faith' section of this initiative the ministry team will seek to offer greater opportunities to both our regular Church members and to those outside of our usual congregations to explore the meaning and significance of our Christian Faith these opportunities will take the form of Sunday service teaching programmes, discussion groups, dinner parties, evening lectures and a course in Christianity explored - This section of the mission is being led by The Revd Chris Jervis one of our Honorary assistant Priest's.
